November: a month of podcasts

This month has been busy with podcasts and events. I was delighted to speak with Joanna Penn on the Creative Penn podcast earlier this month https://www.thecreativepenn.com/2021/11/19/writing-for-the-environment/. We talked about sustainability in the book industry, how to write eco-fiction without being preachy and the upcoming Orna Ross Green Stories novel prize coming up end of December which is open to indie authors and aspiring authors.

Later on in the month I was delighted to be a guest on the ALLi Inspirational Authors podcast with the honey tongued Howard Lovy – you can hear the interview here. We talked about my journey from academic to fiction writer and the inspiration behind my rom-com Habitat Man.

I firmly believe that fiction can play its part in saving our beautiful planet, and not just specifically eco-fiction, but also general fiction aimed at mainstream readers can smuggle in positive role models or green solutions in more subtle ways. It’s been great being a guest on podcasts aimed at writers, but I’d love also to be a guest on some other podcasts I enjoy listening to which take a more upbeat or solution-focused approach such as Sustainable(Ish), Yikes, Sustainababble, Climate Curious, Outrage & Optimism, A Matter of Degrees, How to Save a Planet, The Indisposable Podcast and Climate Cast. I’ve become a bit of an expert on wildlife gardening too as a result of my research for Habitat Man so would also love to speak on podcasts aimed at gardeners and nature lovers. Feel free to invite me, I love to talk about writing, the environment, green solutions and my research.
